DAS SPEED Steering Wheel — Precision You Can Feel
Overview
The DAS SPEED Steering Wheel was designed with one simple goal: to connect you more directly to your car. Every material choice is engineered to eliminate the lag, slippage, and ambiguity that come from traditional foam/silicone/aluminium -covered wheels — giving you pure precision and control.
Technical Highlights
-
Diameter: approx. 44 mm — smaller by design for faster, more accurate input.
-
Material: firm, hard-composite construction for direct feel and zero flex.
-
Surface Finish: optimized texture that provides instant grip even with the lightest touch.
-
Fitment: compatible with most transmitter hubs (see diagram below).
The Engineering Logic
Traditional foam steering wheels have a few hidden problems that most drivers don’t realize:
-
Finger slippage – Foam compresses and can rotate slightly around the rim, especially when your fingers sweat or apply uneven pressure.
-
Over-gripping – To compensate for slippage, drivers squeeze harder, which causes fatigue and reduces sensitivity.
-
Ambiguous feedback – Foam adds “give” between your fingers and the car’s response, blurring the line between what you do and what the car does.
-
Oversized wheels – Larger diameters were introduced as a workaround: when you press on foam, it feels easier to modulate steering. But this only increases steering throw and mechanical latency.
Think of foam deformation like a dragster tire launching in slow motion — exaggerated, but it shows how soft materials distort under force. That same distortion dulls your precision.
The DAS SPEED Difference
All those issues disappear the moment you drive with the DAS SPEED steering wheel.
- Even the lightest touch gives you a locked-in feel — no slip, no squish, no delay.
- Your inputs are transmitted instantly and accurately to the car.
- Because you don’t need to grip tightly, you stay relaxed and gain better control and sensitivity.
- You feel the car’s feedback directly through your fingertips.
Once you try it, you’ll never go back.
Handmade Product
Each DAS SPEED steering wheel is individually handmade and finished, rather than mass-produced. As a result, minor visual variations or small cosmetic inconsistencies may be present from one wheel to another.
These variations are a normal characteristic of the handmade manufacturing process and have no impact on the wheel's fit, function, durability or Performance.
